New green space to honor Baltimore’s history in the Penn North Community

The Stockton Street Park project aims to change the narrative from once being the epicenter of the 2015 Civil Unrest to Penn North’s newest open community green space. This park will honor the area’s amazing past, while making space for the community reinvestment opportunities. Currently the project is in the beginning stages of design, which involves community engagement with stakeholders to ensure the success of the project.

About: Stockton Street Park neighbors Arch Social Club, the oldest known, continuously operating African American men's club in the United States. As the epicenter of unrest in Baltimore in 2015, Penn North has been the focus and priority for revitalization and uplift that a Historic Black Arts and Entertainment District deserves. Stockton Street Park sits in the footprint of vacant housing behind the Social Club into a community space that serves both the Club and the neighborhood.

Parks & People’s mission is to improve Baltimore through green space and education.
